The 'Suffolk' thumblatch is one of the most traditional pieces of ironmongery. The thumb piece passes through the door and raises the latch bar off the keep. To restrict the latch bar movement a staple pin or screw on staple is provided (discard unused pin or staple).
These latches are one of the most evocative period pieces available to you if your aim is to create an authentic feel and atmosphere within your restoration project. The suffolk latch design is pointed top and bottom of the handle, to envoke the feeling of the 'Gothic' architecture and style. Thumb bar size allows for use on doors with a maximum thickness of 55mm.
Part of our From The Anvil range these are faithfully reproduced to original designs by hand in the traditional fashion of English Blacksmiths. They are ideally suited to Cottages, Listed Buildings and Period properties.
