Stonebridge Handforged Architectural Ironmongery Collection is the new range launched by the DJH Finesse group of companies. Coming from the rich heritage of the steel making area of County Durham - North England, the historical connection is not lost on those looking for a distinctive range of hand forged steel hardware for their homes.
Launched as a stand alone brand Stonebridge uses a combination of the very latest technology, and the very oldest hand crafting techniques to create a new range of hand-forged steel door handles, window furniture and cabinet fittings.
The door handles are designed to provide a simple, elegant design of lever matched either to a strong backplate or to a smaller round or square rose design. Similar to the Finesse Pewter Collection the lever range has also been extended to provide some excellent multi-point lock handles. At the launch of the range there are three different lever designs;
As part of a traditional hand forged range there are some beautiful T-Hinges in both an Arrow design and Penny-end design. These match perfectly with the Thumb Latch and Pull Handles. These iconic designs are reflect the age-old design, but are updated to use this new smooth finish that Stonebridge have developed showing off the real beauty of the steel.
A matching range of window hardware helps to complete a fully coordinated look, including modern locking espagnolette style handles.
The front door furniture, produced in the Forged Steel finish only ,allows for a fully fitted front door using hand forged steel products which will stand the test of time and British weather.
Available in two finishes; Forged Steel and Natural Black
The Forged Steel finish is extremely durable and perect for use both internally and externally. The finish gives a smoother more polished look to the metal than the more traditional rustic hand forged items that we are used to seeing. The handles are stove enamelled and then hand assembled here in the UK. The process includes burnishing the metal to reveal the subtle steel finish and really highlights the unique texture of the steel. A clear powder coating finish draws out the mid pewter colour of the metal. The Forged Steel Finish is extremely durable internally and externally.
The Natural Black finish is acheived by heating the surface of the forged steel and allowing this to oxidise to produce the natural black colour. To keep the finish it is then dipped in a hot beeswax finish which then cools and hardens to provide the final protective finish. This finish is only recommended for internal use as otherwise a surface rust is likely to occur to the metal.
An occasional wipe with a damp cloth will be sufficient to clean these products, do not use metal cleaners or aerosol sprays.
