Choosing the right surface barrel bolt
Surface barrel bolts are designed to add a straightforward sliding lock to doors, cupboards, gates and windows. They are visible when fitted and are usually surface mounted, which makes them easier to install than recessed locking hardware. A barrel bolt can be used as a simple privacy fitting, a secondary security measure or a practical way to hold a door closed.
When choosing a barrel bolt, consider the length of the bolt, the width of the fixing plate, the direction of operation and the surface it will be fitted to.
