2023 Home Trends

Front Door Furniture

"The Home Front"

The main theme running through this year’s trends is sustainability, and swapping out hardware and handles is a fantastic way to keep it sustainable while sprucing up your look. The most obvious place to begin is the Front Door! Adding a set of front door furniture that suits your style is a great way of communicating your personal style to the world! From Door Knockers to Letterplates and even Outdoor Lighting, More Handles can provide everything you’d need to create a lovely entranceway.

If you already love your front door, but the hardware came with the door and is looking more shabby less chic, replace the hardware with something you actually want! Increase your kerb appeal by painting a front door a new colour, or choosing a new finish of hardware that compliments your style!

When it comes to choosing a new finish, bold brass goes with almost any colour, it is kind of the neutral of hardware! Think deep blues, outrageous reds to white and cream tones, while silver (chrome and nickel) works with tones from sage green to baby pink for a slightly more modern and on-trend 'dopamine decorating' look. The unsung hero of door hardware is actually black, antique black for the older look and matt black for a super modern style.

Green Kitchens

"What matches with green kitchens?"

We still can't get enough of the green kitchen trend, which started the edgy younger sister of the blue kitchen trend a couple of years ago. It has now grown into almost any shade of green, two-tone green and neutral kitchens, and backdrops for biophilic design.

Try sage green kitchen cabinets with black cupboard handles and knobs like the Alexander & Wilks Jesper Collection for a detailed look or the Carlisle Brass Block Cupboard Handle for a simple design.

Darker forest greens lend themselves to brass, try satin brass for a contemporary take, alternatively, try polished or unlacquered brass for a classical look.

The Reeded Look

This year, the biggest trend for your home is reeded design, in the last year everything from reeded glass for cabinets, ribbed and tinted glassware, reeded tiles, lighting and biggest of all, hardware!

The biggest names in the game are bringing out trendy reeded collections for cabinets and interior doors as well as matching accessories, see this Reeded selection from Alexander & Wilks here.

The trend contrasts with the smooth curved trend and makes for a brilliant accent corner of reeded vases and smooth curved candle holders, mixed materials and textures are perfect for adding that depth without going too maximalist. Reeded glass, metal and ceramics will be on trend for years to come, and we know this because trendsetters are using the texture in permanent home features like the glass of cabinets and panelling on walls.

Reeded Q&A

Q: Is reeded on-trend?

A: Everything from Reeded Glass to Handles to wall panelling is in at the moment! Find Reeded Handles and Lighting at More Handles.

Brass Bronze & Copper

Warm-toned hardware is back! Brass, bronze and copper handles and metal features are in! Everything from lighting to handles can be found in this colour way now, so why not shop brass and copper lighting from Industville for an industrial vibe? Try lacquered or unlacquered brass for a more traditional Victorian look, or aged bronze will achieve a timeless look.

Q: Should I pick Brass, Bronze or Copper for my handles?

A: While they are often used interchangeably, Brass Bronze and Copper all have their own unique look! Brass can be Antique, Polished, Unlacquered or Satin, which completely changes the look of the product. Bronze is often in Antique, Aged or Polished and tends to have more of a green undertone to the orange of brass, similar to the red and blue tones in nickel and chrome. Copper has come into its own in recent years, with searches for 'rose gold' and copper

Statement Lighting

Lighting is on trend constantly, from minimalist exposed bulb features to chandeliers, lighting always needs to be chosen carefully. Bold lighting, mood lighting, focal point lighting, lamp lighting, the list goes on. The best bet is to go with your gut because whatever you pick will be a statement.

Personally, we absolutely love the industrial look, by Industville, which has everything from the brand-new Knurled collection to the traditional Brooklyn collection for whichever industrial direction you want to go.

Lighting Q&A

Q: Is pendant lighting out of style?

Industville’s managing director, Mara Miller, shared this with Home & Garden recently 'pendant lighting is an essential part of lighting within your home. This trend can redefine your space by creating focal points and stunning visual impact. By embracing pendant lighting, anyone can achieve their style as various pendant fixtures come in sleek, modern, traditional and industrial finishes.'

The highlights are, go with your instincts! There are a hundred ways to include these styles in your home, do it your way!
