A Cast Iron Rim Lock set, created using original designs. Found in locations varying from Cottages to Stately homes, this product is versatile and looks stunning in any period property. This design is a faithful reproduction, created using original designs used during the Victorian era, right down to the construction of the mechanism and the way that the brass is incorporated within the lock.
The lock body and Solid Brass detailing have been hand-aged using a natural oxidizing process. This means that each lock is unique in its texture and appearance, and will continue to acquire it's own unique patina over the years. The design makes it 'non-handed' which means it is reversible and can be used for both left and right hung doors and can be locked from both sides, without having to hang the lock upside down. Incorporated into the design is a Solid Brass slide Dead Bolt, which enables it to latch internally without having to use the key.
Please note that this lock is very 'rustic' in both it's design and construction, and does not meet any modern standards of testing or effectiveness. It is designed more as a decorative product rather than a functioning lock system, and has both the look and feel as if it has been on the door for many years, but therefore may not be appropriate to all applications. If you are in any doubt please feel free to order just one as a sample.
Supplied in SINGLES complete with screws and two Solid Brass Keys.
