Finesse Design Real Pewter Door Handles are a beautiful investment for your home.  Having been carefully crafted and produced they will continue to look good for many years.

Pewter is a beautifully tactile metal with a warm and lustrous quality.  The pewter handles and knobs from Finesse Design are manufactured in solid pewter which is then hand-finished to give a unique patina.  Using the best-quality lead-free Pewter, the Finesse range of handles, knobs and hardware is entirely safe to use anywhere in the home.

DOES PEWTER RUST?

No plating or lacquer is applied to the Finesse Pewter products so therefore there is no coating to degrade, which can be a problem on other handles, and the solid pewter items do not rust.

When externally exposed to extreme weather conditions Pewter will not rust but a dark Patina will begin to develop, in extreme locations some small dots of white deposit can develop on the surface, this process will vary with climate and air quality and is normal in this material.

HOW TO CLEAN PEWTER

If the natural patina development is not desired to externally fitted handles then to help maintain the factory finish we recommend cleaning every 3 to 6 months with warm very mild (1%) soapy water and cloth dry. For Pewter left longer than this period or that has darkened a lot apply a light coat of 'Brasso' and buff vigorously when dry to a shine. Repeat the process if required. Do NOT under any circumstances use solvent cleaners or household polishes or aerosols as these will cause irreversible damage to the Pewter surface which will absorb the solvent and thereby permanently discolour the surface. Internal handles will only require an occasional wipe with warm soapy water and buff dry.

LEATHER AND WOOD

Our Leather supplier uses only the finest English Saddle Leather which is hand stitched to order. Please allow a minimum 6 weeks from order for this product. Leather is best cleaned when required with a damp cloth and a light coat of clear shoe cream. Finesse sources its Oak and American Black Walnut from sustainable source suppliers. These products are NOT recommended for external use.

SPRUNG DOOR LEVERS

All Finesse Door Levers are supplied sprung except Multipoint versions, which are supplied un-sprung to allow for the upward locking movement needed to operate this style of lock. Finesse Door knobs are un-sprung for comfort of operation, but can be sprung to order if specified.

DOORS AND FIXINGS

All cabinet handles are supplied with industry standard M4 x 25mm machine screws suitable for cabinet doors up to 19mm thickness, or M4 x 45mm snap off screws are available which if used should be cut to formula Door Thickness + 5mm. Do not under any circumstances use the screw at full length without measuring as this could lead to the screw bursting through the front of the handle.

For Doors in excess of 19mm let us know at the point of order and we can include longer screws to suit your application without charge. If ordered after the order has been delivered we reserve the right to charge for supply and postage. Door Knobs and Levers are supplied with pewter finished stainless steel dome head slotted No.8 wood screw x 25mm as standard.

PRODUCT TESTS

Finesse Pewter Hardware has been professionally and independently tested and is compliant with BS EN ISO 11997-1:2006 a 168 HOUR CYCLIC CORROSION salt spray test. The test replicates exposure to the elements in the most severe way. A copy of this test result may be viewed or downloaded from our website.

Pewter has it’s origins in antiquity but today the alloy must comply with the European Standard EN6711. It is the fourth most precious metal in normal use after platinum, gold and silver, and makes a perfect statement piece to finish off your grand design!
